Cupping Therapy

Massage Cupping

Cupping therapy is a non-invasive, ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist applies special cups made of silicone or glass onto a client’s skin to create suction/negative pressure. The tissue, blood and muscles are drawn to the surface of the skin on specific parts of the body that require healing or release. The therapist may keep some suction cups stationary while gliding others across the skins surface during the massage. Cupping therapy has gained notoriety among famous athletes who often need instant release of fascial restrictions for full, non-restrictive range of motion.

Benefits

  • Enhances circulation supplying O2 to cells
  • Relieves pain associated with tight muscles and fascia restrictions or adhesions
  • Loosens knots & restrictions causing instant increase in ROM
  • Detoxes and encourages drainage of toxins and excess fluids
  • Helps to release deep scar tissue
  • Improve overall energy & encourages relaxation
Side Effects
After employing the cupping method, it is common to find that small bruises or redness will remain on the treated areas of the body. This is due to all the blood being forced to the surface of the skin. It is believed that if there is the presence of higher amount of toxins in an individual’s body, then the redness will be deeper and more noticeable Marks experienced after a cupping session may last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. Since the bruises are not caused by any form of blunt trauma they should not be painful. Other side effects may include mild discomfort or tenderness, redness, swelling or irritation.
